The sum of three consecutive interger is 84. Find these three intergers. I know the answer but i dunno the working...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

even or odd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

both

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let the three consecutive even numbers be -- ( x - 2 ) , ( x ) and ( x + 2 ) But according to the problem, their sum = 84 => ( x - 2 ) + ( x ) + ( x + 2 ) = 84 ⇒ Catrefully note the tricky selection of the numbers. => 3 x = 84 => x = 28 ( middle number ) Hence the three numbers are -- 26 , 28 and 30

I know the ans 27,28,29. I dunno the working

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is for odd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x - 1 ) , ( x+1 ) and ( x + 3) But according to the problem, their sum = 84 => ( x - 1 ) + ( x +1) + ( x + 3) = 84 ⇒ Catrefully note the tricky selection of the numbers. => 3 x = 81 => x = 27 ( middle number ) Hence the three numbers are -- 27 , 28 and 29
