A standard deck of playing cards has 52 cards- 13 spades-13 clubs-13 hearts and 13 diamonds. What is the probability of drawing a spade from a standard 52 card deck, replacing it, and then drawing another spade? A. 1/169 B. 3/51 C.1/16 D. 1/2

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

as there are 13 spades the probability of drawing a spade on first draw is 13/52 or 1/4 after replacing it and drawing again the probability is 1/4 since these 2 events are independent of each other the probabilities are multiplied hence the answer is 1/4 * 1/4 = 1/16
