Start by making a list of possible hardships people might face in moving to Mars: long voyage there, no idea what it might be like, no pizza there and that sort of thing.
Then make a list of reasons people might want to go Mars. Maybe the just want to get away from and old girlfreiend. Maybe the think they'll get rich. Add your own ideas.
Then make a list of the type of life forms they might meet on Mars. Good ones bad ones just list as many as you can think of.
When you have your lists. Go through and highlight or mark the things that could have been true of people in Europe who first came to the Americas.
The assignment asks you to compare. So use your highlighted list to write sentences about all the things that are similar.
