OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

Parallelogram RSTU is constructed with line AB drawn through its center. If the parallelogram is dilated using a scale factor of 4 and a line is drawn through the center of the new dilated figure, what relationship will the new line have with line AB? Explain your reasoning using complete sentences.

OpenStudy (phi):

do we assume the figure was dilated from its center?

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

no clue... is it is then it would be in the same place right ? if it is not then the lines would be parallel ?

OpenStudy (gabylovesyou):

OpenStudy (phi):

when they say dilated, we need a point. We could assume the center point of the rectangle (I guess) "with line AB drawn through its center" by "center" they (might) mean the center point of the rectangle (or the center line?) does AB have its end points on the rectangle? or are they anywhere ? About the only thing we know for sure (unless they give a picture and/or more info) is that the new line drawn through the center of the new dilated figure will intersect line AB, because the center point remains where it was after the dilation.
