Explain how pathogens are spread by coughing and sneezing. What can be done to prevent the spread of these diseases?

OpenStudy (koikkara):

@styxoi Hmm... "The Movement of Pathogens Out of Hosts: Portals of Exit: Just as infections occur through portals of entry, so pathogens must leave infected patients through portals of exit in order to infect others. Common portals of exit are respiratory, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary tracts in the form of coughs, sneezes, feces, saliva, penile and vaginal secretions, and urine. The skin is another portal of exit through drainage of wounds." can you give me a short basic soummary

@Whitemonsterbunny17

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Okay, so basically by sneezing or coughing, pathogens are spread to the air.. so then when another organism breathes in that pathogen induced air, they will be infected with those diseases. To prevent this, the person infected by the pathogen could wear a cough mask so that the pathogen does not remain to be airborne.

Explain how heredity and family medical history can play a role in an individual's personal health. Include examples in your explanation.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Heredity health problems and family medical history can play a role in a n individual's personal heath because those traits would be carried on genetically through their DNA. An example of this is diabetes. Diabetes is a serious health condition that, depending the type, could make the person unable to ingest normal amounts of sugar. Through the family's generations, the trait including diabetes would pass down.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

So basically, through generations the bad traits are passed down through DNA. Depending what disease or other health problem is passed, each individual with the "bad" trait will have to deal with those health problems.
