THE CITY RECREATION DEPARTMENT PLANS TO PLANT GRASS SEED ON A SOCCER FIELD THAT IS 100 YARDS LONG AND 60 YARDS WIDE AT THE COST OF 1200$. A SECOND FIELD WHICH MEASURES 50 YARDS LONG AND 20 YARDS WIDE ALSO NEEDS GRASS SEED PLANTED. HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO PLANT GRASS SEED ON THE SECOND FIELD IN DOLLARS?

i just screamed this entire problem to myself in my head

OpenStudy (anonymous):

DID YOU KNOW YOU'RE TYPING IN ALL CAPITALS????????????? So it costs $1200 to seed a 100x60 field....or a 600 yd^2 field Set up a proportion 1200 / 600 = x / (50*20)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright well i did a proportion for this one. i did 6000/1200 (100x60) and 100/x (20x50) cross multiply and divide

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or you might notice that 1200 / 600 is 2. So it costs $2 for every yd^2.

1000/x*
