For an alternating series to converge, the terms must be getting smaller, and at the limit, the terms must tend to zero. In this series, neither one of those conditions is met, so the series diverges.
Okay so you cannot find a sum when the series diverges?
Correct. When a series converges, that means each term you add to it gets you closer and closer to a number.
