how does an inclined plane impact work

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

I think of this two ways, but they are both the same.

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

1. On a flat surface the surface pushes on an object with the same amount of force as the object pushes on the surface.|dw:1396424503393:dw|

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

On an incline the surface can't keep the object from moving as well.|dw:1396424677434:dw|

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

Some force is still pushing towards the surface, but some is also accelerating the object down the incline.|dw:1396424824536:dw|

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

Now you have force acting along a distance, which is the definition of work. The other way I think about this is 2. The change in Potential Energy

thanks a lot doc.brown for your help

OpenStudy (doc.brown):

You're welcome

OpenStudy (warriorz13):

The inclined plane is simply a flat surface raised at an angle, like a ramp. ... The ramp makes life easier not by altering the amount of work that is needed, but by ...
