Identify the like terms. –4a, –3b, 4b, 3 A. –4a and 4b B. –3b and 3 C. –3b and 4b D. –4a and –3b

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Do you know what like terms are??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Ok. well all it is, is combining the same variables and powers. The coefficients don't need to match. UNLIKE TERMS are the ones that don't have the same variables or powers. Which one do you think is the answer??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d?

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Does that have the same variables??

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Try again.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b?

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

No. It would be C. Because they both have a variable. And those variables are the same. If there are two numbers and one has a variable and the other one doesn't, that's automatically wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C, they have the same Variables.
