So the Koreans and some of the Asia provinces were in the hands of the Japanese. So in the WW2, US helped them by dropping a nuclear bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. So Japanese surrendered. So after the WW2, South Koreans and also the countries that were in the hands of Japan all went back to their place. But then after the WW2, South Koreans were planning out their future in 2 different groups 1) the republicans who were in the side of the US 2) Communists who were influenced by Soviet Union. Then there were 38th parallel line across Korea. But in 1950, the North attacked the South and the Chinese helped them out. So there started a Korean Civil war. and by 1953, they have fixed the boundaries for both sides. US helped South Korea to recover from the war.
