f(x)=3^x g(x)=x^4 Find the solutions of the equation 3^x = x^4, correct to two decimal places.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

What's your plan for doing that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I graphed them on my TI-83. Checked the intersections of the results. am I in the right direction?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Did you find both solutions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did....have two (x,y) coordinates. Can I consider the x values the solutions since I am solving for x?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

?? There are two solutions. x = 1.51677641228317 is one of them. Did you find the other one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i believe it's -.8022.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

x = -0.80224643154617 Good. If that's all you need, then you are done. When you want to know how to find that without the calculator, it will be a very interesting study. Nothing wrong with using the calculator, particularly if it makes you more familiar with the device. Good work. All that is left is to round as instructed.

Thank you. I appreciate your guidance.
