Suppose that x and y vary inversely, and x=10 when y=6. Write the function that models the inverse variation. how do i solve this ? thanks

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

"x and y vary inversely" MEANS y = k/x Substitute given values to find k.

OpenStudy (smored):

\[y=\frac{k}{x}\]\[6=\frac{k}{10}\]\[6(10)=k\]\[60=k\]now substitute 60 with k.\[y=\frac{60}{x}\]
