how can divorce affect children

It could cause the kid to act out and blame the parents for their actions. It could also cause the child to stress and start flunking classes.
In my opinion it depends on how old the child is and how they decide to handle it.
Some parents will fight for visitation rights, then that flows into fighting for full custody. If one parent gets full custody they would be left without a father/mother figure. Which could also cause the kid to act out and get in trouble with the law or in school.
