What is the value of x to the nearest tenth? a.)26.8 b.)30.0 c.)6.0 d.)13.4
So x is the segment area?
yes
That's funny because I just wrote a web page about finding that. Anyway, I'll explain it to you.
okay, go
1) We find the area of entire circle 2) Calculate SECTOR Area (x + triangle area * 2) by measuring the angle of the triangle. 3) Subtract triangle area times 2 from sectors area. 1) Area of entire circle = PI * 18*18 = 1,017.876
2) Calculating Sector Area which is triangle angle /360. ARRGGHHHH why didn't they label the angles???? Triangle angle = Let's call it the radius angle cosine (radius angle) = 12/18 = .666666666 arc cosine (.6666666) = radius angle = 48.19 Degrees Now we need double that angle, 96.38 to get the sector area. Sector area = (96.38 / 360) * circle area
270.63= sector angle?
Circle area = 1,017.876 sector area = (96.38 / 360) * circle area sector area = 272.5080246667 3) Now for the segment area this equals sector area minus 2 times triangle area The third side of the triangle is 13.416407865 (which is sq root (18² - 12²) ) Area of both triangles is 12 * 13.416407865 = 160.99689438 = 161 rounded So segment area = 272.51 minus 161.00 = 111.51 Yes it's just that "simple" LOL
and that's not one of the choices right? LOL
no it's not. i think it was for the segment line
Yes NOT the segment. Okay we'll get that third triangle side 13.416407865 and multiply by 2 and get 26.83281573 or 26.84 rounded
Seems like a) doesn't it?
yes
See? It's just that simple.
again, it is just that simple. thanks
u r welcome glad to help out
