I need helping... I'm doing the Pythagorean Theorem and here is what I have so far... 2b+2^2 +b^2 =13^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you solving for variable b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

want it rounded?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes that's fine

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm not positive but i got b=8.6 (rounded)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you though. Can I know the steps you took to solve it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract 2 squared from both sides so 13 squared is now 11 squared. then divide by 2 so it is 121/2 then square root both sides then b+b=2b so divide by 2 again and b=8.6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry if it is confusing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's okay. Thank you though

welcome
