Which point could NOT be part of the direct variation y=4x? A: (0,0) B: (4,16) C: (5,20) D: (16,4)

mathslover (mathslover):

Again, plug-in the values and find which doesn't satisfy the situation for y = 4x.

mathslover (mathslover):

for example : A) 0,0 here x= 0 and y=0 So, put in y = 4x 0 = 4(0) 0 = 0 which is obviously true. So, A) can not be our answer. Similarly do for other options and find the answer.

jdccy01 did it help?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

If you'd make a table of values (x as independent variable and y = 4x as dependent variable, and then let x = 1, 2, 3, 4, etc., you'll see that every time x increases, y also increases. This fact eliminates which of the four possible answer choices??
