How long are Ambassadors allowed to be Ambassadors?

As long as administrators think, that user is not suitable for becoming ambassador. 
If they behave nicely, as expected, they can remain ambies as long as they want. 
Any inappropriate action or breaking of Code of conduct can endanger their ambieship. :)

Ok thank you thats helpful cause I applied for the second round of ambies and just wanted to see how long i could be one if i became one.

if you become ambie in 2nd round, 1st round ambies will still remain as ambies.

i guess around june...but an official post would be made if the admins think that there is a need for new ambies...
