Which is the correct stem-and-leaf plot for the data set? 20, 19, 48, 45, 44, 43, 20, 41 A. 1|9 2|0 3| 4|1 3 4 5 8 Key: 4 | 3 means 43 B. 1|9 2|0 0 3|0 4|1 3 4 5 8 Key: 4 | 3 means 43 C.1|9 2|0 0 3| 4|1 3 4 5 8 Key: 4 | 3 means 43 D.1|9 2|0 3|0 4| 1 3 4 5 8 Key: 4 | 3 means 43
@Dianegrace, which choice do you believe is correct?
If I knew I wouldn't be asking.
3|0, 30 that is, occurs in representation A and C but not in the data set, so it cannot be those.
What a stem and leaf plot does is take a list of numbers and organizes them in a sequential fashion, except instead of reordering a set of numbers in the form: {10, 11, 23, 27, 36, 42}, it organizes that same list in the following manner: tens|ones 1|0 1 2| 3 7 3| 6 4| 2
Obviously, if a number is not in the list, it is not included in the plot.
Oops. I meant B and D. Furthermore 2|0, 20 that is, occurs only once in A but twice in the data set, so it cannot be that one. That leaves C as the only possible answer.
