Does anyone have any suggestions on how to play eighth note vs. triplets (duple vs. triple) in measure 6 in First Arabesque by Claude Debussy?
I played this song at one point. tricky, huh? :D
Yeah in some parts like in the first page
anyway, it helps a LOT to play each hand separate, quite a few times until you get the rhythms of both, then put it together. you should have them pretty solid, basically muscle memory. Then, you can put them together and each hand automatically does its part perfectly in line... Shorter method... but less fool proof: you can figure out where each hand plays in terms of notes. like as in right, left, right, left, left... etc... then you should start out playing it slow, then speed it up gradually until you get to your correct speed. this works a lot faster... but when you reach a certain speed you kinda fall out of line... so the other method works better. This is only for if you are playing slower and want to learn it fast. hope this helps ;D
Thanks
you're welcome! :D
its great that you're learning this song, not many people nowadays bother with this kind of music. :D
I typically love songs from the romantic and contemporary era
