Xavier worked 10 hours on Monday and 15 hours on Wednesday. His total pay was $280.00. What is his rate per hour?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

To solve this type of problem, you start by adding the 10 and 15 hours.. which equals 25. Then, you take the total amount of $280.00 and divide that by the 25 hrs.. which equals 11.2, or in money $11.20 So, Xavier's rate per hour is $11.20

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

if \(x\) is his pay rate for one hour of work, he is paid \(10x\) for working 10 hours and \(15x\) for working 15 hours. \[10x+15x = 280\]\[25x=280\]Divide both sides of the equation by 25 to find \(x\), his hourly rate

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

... That's the exact same thing that I just said... lol.
