What is different about synthesis of the lagging strand compared to synthesis of the leading strand?

um leading strand is a continuous process that occurs. The lagging strand is how it sounds, it is slower in comparison to the continuous process. Lagging strand makes a piece, then cuts off and makes a new piece instead of 1 long one. These are called okazaki fragments and must be repaired before the process is over
