What is a translation rule that maps P(-4,2) on to P(-1,-1)?

OpenStudy (rea201):

Point P is translated 3 units to the right and 3 units down.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it would be (x+3, Y-3) ? Did I do that correctly?

OpenStudy (rea201):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (rea201):

:) your welcome. And it is pretty easy when you understand it.

I usually get mixed up between the up and down, and the right and left stuff. :P Anyways thank you once again, I literally spent like 20 minutes thinking which way it went. :P I feel silly now

OpenStudy (rea201):

No need to feel silly. :) We all get mixed up. Even Albert Einstein was stumped on one of his own problems and never solved it. Shockingly a 15 year old boy was the first to solve it.
