number theory,why is'nt there a subtopic,in mathematics for number theory,since theres calculus,algebra,geometry...etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all such questions relating to divisibility, modular arithmetic, primes ....should be classified in a subtopic

OpenStudy (preetha):

Well, its a question of popularity. Would there be a lot of questions on number theory?

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

I would imagine it's popularity would be about equivalent to the popularity of the discrete math subtopic currently.

Parth (parthkohli):

I'd say yes, it's very popular. It's a high school topic in India.

mathslover (mathslover):

That's really a good idea @Jonask - Number theory is surely considered as a very important, interesting and challenging topic in Mathematics. Yes @Preetha - I think so that it will gain much popularity due to some challenging and interesting topics/discussions/questions. :)
