Can someone help me? How would you solve this? 0.06x+80<0.10x

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

in a similar way to solving an equation subtract 0.06x form both sides to give 80 < 0.04x now its easy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 80/0.04 x<2000

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

no 2000 < x x > 2000

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, why does the symbol switch?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

always read the inequality from the 'x' side

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

if 2000 is less than x then x is greater than 2000

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, thanks soo much! =^.^=

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

yw - i took 0.06x from both sides to avoid having the negative value in the x term with an inequality if you divide both sides by a negative value you need to flip the inequality sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OMG, this sounds soo much easier! Thanks for explaining too. :)

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

thats ok
