please help. iv'e tried but i cant get the answer. Medal rewarded
Choose the equivalent system of linear equations that will produce the same solution as the one given below. A.) 6x + 2y = -6 3x - 4y = -18 B.) 12x + 4y = -12 15x = -30 C.) 8x + 4y = -4 14x = -10 D.) 6x - 8y = -36 -6y = -42 6x - y = -15 3y = 9
Well we can just solve the system given and plug in the results to the choices...so from 6x - y = -15 3y = 9 we see that y = 3 right? so 6x - 3 = -15 6x = -12 x = -2 so if x = -2 and y = 3 Plug those into each choice you have...and see which on provides a correct statement
opps i am so sorry i lettered the answer choices wrong its suppose to be: ( will it still be affected?) Choose the equivalent system of linear equations that will produce the same solution as the one given below. 6x + 2y = -6 3x - 4y = -18 a.) 12x + 4y = -12 15x = -30 b.) 8x + 4y = -4 14x = -10 c.) 6x - 8y = -36 -6y = -42 d.) 6x - y = -15 3y = 9
@johnweldon1993
Well there are the same solutions...in this case so solve THAT system 6x + 2y = -6 3x - 4y = -18 Solve that top equation for 'y' 2y = -6 - 6x y = -3x - 3 Now substitute that into the second equation for 'y' 3x - 4y = -18 becomes 3x - 4(-3x - 3) = - 18 3x + 12x + 12 = - 18 15x = -30 x = -2 And if x = -2 6x + 2y = -6 becomes 6(-2) + 2y = -6 -12 + 2y = -6 2y = 6 y = 3 So if x = -2 and y = 3 plug THOSE into the other options and see which ones work
ok i got it form here thanks
No problem! :)
