OpenStudy (anonymous):

The only help I usually get on this site is in Math. The other subjects need just as much help.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Yeah I totally agree... it just happens like this that many people know math better than other subjects.

OpenStudy (hoblos):

yeah, another reason is that the mathematics group is receiving much more question than other groups, which makes must of the users stay in the mathematics group and don't check the other groups often (this includes me lol)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's pretty hard to pay attention to all the groups at once, I agree with Solomon and hoblos as well. Most people are here interested in math, and usually stay in that subject, as for me I'll check everything here and there, but still find it difficult to pay attention to all the subjects. I think it might be the way it's structured, though an easy way to keep attention would be to open all the chats of subjects you're good at, and you can see if someone has asked a question (only if it's their first question). But, yes I do believe the other subjects need to be paid more attention to! :)

OpenStudy (beccaboo333):

There are quite a few users who go from subject to subject daily. I'm pretty good with Biology, History, English, and a few others. I just recently started helping in the math section. You can tag users to your questions. You'd be surprised at how many users actually study in the other sections than Math.

thomaster (thomaster):

I usually pay attention to any section but math :P

OpenStudy (preetha):

Hmm. Does this mean you MrsDavidRandle have not received any help or is it just slower? Everyone knows a little math - but not everyone can help in other subjects. We are trying our best...

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Preetha, it's Both. I glanced at his profile, and saw that some questions were answered slower (only a certain time after the question is already asked) and some were not answered at all. I also experienced a similar problem. Fortunately I found the answer to all the once that OS didn't help em with on my own. I really wish David the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you want help in any specific subject, you can tag me, and if I don't know it, I'm willing to learn it and help you out! :)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

OS just needs more people like you LOL ! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Preetha I did not receive any help for my question after I had waited for a long time. I had bumped it at least ten times. So I gave up and closed it. I did find out how to do it from a friend but I don't think they're paid attention to enough. And usually I don't tag someone unless I've seen them in the subject before because usually I don't know what they're good at. Also @SolomonZelman I am a girl hence Mrs. Though I'm not actually a Mrs. Inside joke.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I also have this problem. When I have History, English, or other subject questions, they really aren't answered(helping me learn), or fast enough. I and others don't want to wait days for my question to be answered(helping me learn), I only have patience to wait about an hour. Some of my assignments are even timed making it more of a dire situation when I'm not helped soon. I put the helping me learn in there because I didn't mean giving me direct answers. But yeah, I hope you get my point.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

I suggested assigned section and will bring this up in a meeting with Administration.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Assigned sections just gives people less reason to use the site. The way people track areas is intrinsically flawed. It is a deep design issue. If you are on a lot of sites, you can make a custom list of areas you track. Here, you view one area and only track that. Math is popular for many reasons, including the fact that there are more questions where you can work with people and there is less need to just give answers. Another thing that could help is an easier way to list what things you want to be tagged in. So if you say you are good at biology, people in biology will see your icon with a little "Tag me" mark.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Assigned sections seemed to work great back when @bostonblue ran the Ambassador team. We each had our own section. My main section was physics, secondary Health Sciences and "float" was Literature. I answered hundreds of questions in those topics - and I assume my fellow Ambassadors did the same for their assigned topics.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not an ambassador or a genius at a certain subject, but maybe as long as you volunteer to check in with a subject that you're good at more often, then maybe that'll work. I don't think that people should be restricted to certain subjects, but I also think that there needs to be people checking in on other subjects.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well if you're waiting for all that time, you can just learn on your own then, open a book, I'm not trying to sound rude, but not everyone is there for just you, we are doing many things at once usually. We can't help all the time, and at times it can also get tiring for us after a while.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Another thing I want to say, be glad it's free.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So true. ^^ But I don't think that anyone was suggesting that they're the important one, but I think that they were just bringing it to attention.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@MrsDavidRandle I saw some of your questions, all you say is help, but don't really ask what the specific question is, nor show any work you've done for it.

OpenStudy (timaashorty):

I completely agree with this question. I usually get help on math and rarely on other subject. I would suggest you do what I do. Skip through the questions that are answered in the section. There's usually at least one person you'll see who has helped. Fan him/her [or as much people who seem as good helpers] and by the next time you may have someone to help you. You won't find a great helper so quick, but keep this as a habit and you'll actually find that special helper [= For example; I usually need help in chemistry. I remember no one would help me in that since hardly no one's really there. But now I found @aaronq. He's a great helper and he's mostly online. You might also find him in Biology. English and writing ; I found @linda3 and there's still a few more you would find active on those subjects. [search through the subjects and check who mostly answers there] You can also tag me on these two, and I can try to help. Spanish: You'll find @kewlgeek555 always active in there and sometimes Me [= If it's in other subjects where you can't find help in, let me know and I can try to find someone to help you.

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Hm. As @iambatman said, most people here are interested in math and even if we are interested in multiple subjects it is hard to keep up with all of them. That is why I usually recommend these people in the following sections (I have watched them and it seems they give accurate answers and good explanations)... English: @SeaTurtle113 @linda3 and me (@kewlgeek555 ) History: @Destinymasha @beccaboo333 @Taylor<3sRin @charlotte123 Biology: @Destinymasha @beccaboo333 Physics: @Mashy Spanish: Me, @esshotwired @timaashorty (thanks for the referral) That's really all I know for now. I like to watch other people and how they answer questions so if I can't help someone, I will at least be able to recommend them someone else to tag. (^_^;)

OpenStudy (linda3):

@MrsDavidRandle I'm sorry you were not able to get your question answered. There are a lot of active users for each subject, it's just that they are not always online all at the same time. I know that I am the person everyone tags for -Writing -History -English -Art History -Design these are the subject I am most comfortable with, as you can see I rarely answer questions in math- b/c 1.) I'm not so confident with math, 2.) I'm good in the subjects I listed above and enjoy doing them. 3.) Math is not an ignored subject- but stuff like Art History is. So.... I try to help the subject that are most ignored. I know I'm not always online but please do tag me in your question and I will try my best to help you understand your question! :) Thank you!

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Congratulations on becoming 75 Ciel. ;)

OpenStudy (linda3):

thank you!! ;-) I'm trying to make it to 99 before i die.
