Hello I have been stuck on this question for awhile. And I understand how to solve the compound inequality, I just have troubles graphing it. The Problem is -13 > -5x + 2 > -28 And I got 3>x>6... I just need help graphing it. Plz
If you solved it correctly, then It's a trick question. The result is not a compound inequality because 3 > 6 is false. However, x < 3 or x > 6 can be graphed.
But in the lesson it told me how to solve it and when i followed those steps the answer i got was 3>x>6 if i show u the graph choices would that help?
Just a minute please
Okai.
These are the graph choices btw.
Let me post some steps of my own.
-13 > -5x + 2 > -28 Given You can re-write that as: -28 < -5x + 2 < -13 Now, if you add 20.5 to each side you get: -7.5 < -5x + 22.5 < 7.5 Next you can apply some rules of absolute value to get: |-5x + 22.5| < 7.5 A general rule is | a - b| < c is the same as |b - a| < c So: |5x - 22.5| < 7.5 And -7.5 < 5x - 22.5 < 7.5 Now add 22.5 to each side to get: 15 < 5x < 30 Then divide each side by 5 to get: 3 < x < 6 Which is a compound inequality and whose graph is in your given answer choices.

This is how I was shown to do it in my online courses lesson. and the answer choices that are shown above are in my online assignment
You forgot to switch signs when dividing by a negative number.
So instead of 3>x>6 it would be 3<x<6 ?
Also, you only divide by 5 not by 5x
Yes 3 < x < 6 is the correct answer
It means x is BETWEEN 3 and 6 non-inclusive

Which choice do you think is correct?
