Which was not a reason for the huge migration of people from their homelands to the United States in the mid-1800s? A. Crop failures in Ireland created widespread starvation. B. New technologies in German factories put people out of work. C. The United States offered political freedom and land to homestead. D. Immigrants knew that Americans held no prejudice against foreigners PLEASE HELP ASAP

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I am not sure about this one. Well, A is (probably) the reason for Irish people to migrate to US, however I think that Irish people migrated for their faith reasons (primarily). Were there technologies created in German factories in 1800s ? Even if so, although I don't think so, I continual warfare religious persecution heavy taxation and seizure of property Freedom from military involvement and political oppression after the Napoleonic Wars. Also for Germans America was JUST BETTER (just like for any other immigrants). I would Think B or A C and D are good statements to e the reason for the migration.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I meant to say that continual warfare religious persecution heavy taxation and seizure of property Freedom from military involvement and political oppression after the Napoleonic Wars, was/were the reasons for Germans to move to US.
