1. Too much nitrogen in the Mississippi River (or any body of water) can cause excessive algae growths called blooms. What might be some problems associated with algae blooms?

Algal blooms can use up a lot of other nutrients, killing off other organisms. Also the algae will die, sink and rot which will consume oxygen, killing fish and crustaceans. Finally, several algae species are toxic and when they occur in large numbers they kill all other life around them :D
