OpenStudy (anonymous):

An image point has coordinates B'(5, -6). Find the coordinates of its pre-image if the translation used was (x - 4, y + 5). B(9, -1) B(9, -11) B(1, -1) B(1, -11)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

so you went (x-4, y+5) to get (5,-6) to find where you got from you would reverse the operation , you are going backwards like this (x+4 , y-5) Does this make sense?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Making it easier, (5,-6) --> (x+4)(x-5) (5+4 , -6-5 ) is equal to ( 9 , -11)
