Okay so I'm working on Special Right Triangles, specifically 30 60 90, and I'm not sure how you get 8 radical 3 as the long leg when the hypotenuse is 3. Can someone help me out? #confused

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Here is a 30-60-90 triangle |dw:1396836289857:dw|

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Which side is the hypotenuse?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The side across from the 90 degree angle, right?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

correct, the longest side is always opposite the largest angle

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the hypotenuse is the longest side in a right triangle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh btw the hypotenuse is 16 i don't know why i typed 3 i'm sorry

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
