Which of the following is true? A. The base of a logarithmic function can be a negative number. B. The range of the function f(x) = log5x is all real numbers. C. The base of a logarithmic function can be zero. D. The domain of the function f(x) = log5x is all real numbers less than zero. Ive narrowed it down to B or D, help

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

Why is B? and Why is D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I've just done process of elimination so far, a log base can't be 0 or negative so that leaves me w B and D.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know range is y, like up and down, and domain is x, left and right

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it B?

OpenStudy (kc_kennylau):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay why is it B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when graphed its in quadrant 1.. is that why D isn't true?
