Find the surface area of the prism. A. 24 m2 B. 54 m2 C. 94 m2 D. 104 m2 btw the sides are 3, 4, and 5

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

What prism is it??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a square

I assume it's a rectangular prism. You need to add the area of each side.

It's good to sketch a diagram. Picture holding a rectangular blocky eraser in front of you. That way you won't forget to add the area of a top or bottom, or one of it's sides.

so i add

Remember that the area of each rectangular SIDE is LENGTH x WIDTH. The area of left side is 3 x 4 = 12. There are two sides like that. The area of the front side is 5 x 3 = 15 and there are two of these sides (one in front and one hidden at the back) . The area of the bottom is 4 x 5 = 20. There's a bottom and a top so there are two of these. The total is 12 +12 + 15 + 15 + 20 + 20 = 94 m^2. So that's answer C.
