Please help!!! Calculate the discriminant. x2 + 2x – 2 = 0 A. –8 B. 12 <------- C. –4 D. 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x2 + 2x – 2 = 0 u can factorise it or us eht e quadratic formula

thank you!

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

So the discriminant will be found by solving \[\large b^2 - 4ac\] a,b and c being the coefficients of your quadratic So we have \[\large 2^2 - 4(1)(-2)\] \[\large 4 - (-8)\] \[\large 4 + 8 = 12\] so yes correct :)
