A carpenter is building a staircase from the first floor to the second floor of a house. The distance between floors is 3.3 m. Each step rises 22 cm. Not counting either floor itself, how many steps will there be?

3.3 meters = 330 cm. 330/22 = 15 intervals. So there are 16 steps enclosing the 15 intervals, but this includes both floors. Therefore there are 14 steps, not counting the floors.

Understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why 330/22?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

means divide

OpenStudy (anonymous):

330 divided by 22 = 15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah why are we dividing ? was my question

OpenStudy (anonymous):
