Break it into 2 figures... the bottom left a square of sides 7,7,7,7 and a rectangle of 20x18.

Area of a square is equal to s^2 or 7*7. 
Area of a rectangle is l*w which is equal to 20*18

So you got this... Add the areas together....

(49) + 360 = 409 units^2
