What is the area of the figure? http://static.k12.com/calms_media/media/1338500_1339000/1338562/1/e74765763c688d9292589627b399eb8aa1932eac/143749.jpg

Break it into 2 figures... the bottom left a square of sides 7,7,7,7 and a rectangle of 20x18. Area of a square is equal to s^2 or 7*7. Area of a rectangle is l*w which is equal to 20*18 So you got this... Add the areas together.... (49) + 360 = 409 units^2

OpenStudy (girlgoyleh.):

Thank you, but 409 isn't one of the choices...i kept getting a different answer from the choices too...

OpenStudy (girlgoyleh.):

these are the choices A. 126 in2 B. 282 in2 C. 360 in2 D. 240 in2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh my bad, i messed up hahahaha! :) here 49 + 20(12) = (6)(7) + 240 = 282...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ignore the 49, make it a 42. You have two rectangles.

OpenStudy (girlgoyleh.):

Oh, haha, its okay. Thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem ^_^
