Can someone please check my work and if its wrong help me get the right answer will give medal (:
How did you arrive at your "guesses"?
Are you guessing or you sure
I am defiantly not sure cause I suck at math so I am guessing from what I read in my lesson
Well just straight outright guessing won't get you anywhere. Of course you're going to be bad at math, that's why you're in school to learn. What would be the point of learning something you were already good at? Haha. So how are you supposed to solve this, by using the quadratic equation or completing the square or what? Tell me what you know so I can help you understand it to make it easier for you. =)
Um I actually take notes.... its not my fault im stupid and none of it goes into my head and it just comes straight out
Good, so what do your notes say?
on what exactly?
:p
1) I doubt you are stupid 2) what do your notes say about the quadratic formula ?
x = -b ± √b² - 4ac | 2a
Quadratic Formula.
Your terms: a = 1 b = 5 c = 2
a=1, b= -5, c= -2
Oh, right it wasn't simplified. Sorry
Are you getting any of this @lostintime
x = -b ± √b² - 4ac | 2a x = -(-5) ± √(-5)² - 4(1)(-2) | 2(1) Can you simplify that @lostintime ?
Well This Is Going No Where xD
Thank for everything guys but 2 people already helped me through private message and told me my answers were right, I ACTUALLY understood my lesson so I am kinda happy anyway thanks for trying to help me since a lot of you helped idk who to give a medal to lol but wow I actually understood my lesson
LOL
If you REALLY understood your lesson, you wouldn't need anyone to check your work for you.
I didn't know it was right that's why I wanted people to check for me
It doesnt matter atleast she UNDERSTOOD her lesson
stop being mean guys thats not cool
@Too_High_For_Love Thank you <3
ya at least she understood
np
suggestion, if you just need to check answers, use online calculator wolframalpha.com
@firedragonman @xxraider365 thank you!
Your welcome its wrong for people to say that to you because i have to check my own answers but if you ever need help @johnweldon1993 is a WOUNDERFUL person to talk to(:
np
@dumbcow Thanks for the link (:
Thanks glad you understand (: I actually felt stupid because everyone made it seem like I had done it all wrong when I did it right lol im actually surprised :P
btw your answers were actually wrong http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=x%5E2+-5x+-2+%3D+0 http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=4x%5E2+%2B12x+%2B3+%3D+0
Your a very smart person dont believe other people believe in yourself and believe that you can do anything you set your mind to
Thats true I guess I listen to people too much and its probably why I fail maybe if I listen to myself for once and believe i me I will succeed
there you go(:
lol i suggest listening to your teacher and reputable tutors on this site
Or do what they say _-_
I am in virtual school and we have live lessons I watch them but they aren't as easy to understand so I stick to the lessons and wait what? Now this is just confusing I need to know if I should go back into my lesson and try again
yes you should
The answers you received are incorrect
virtual school is very hard because its basically self taught but hey dont listen to me im always wrong xD
@Too_High_For_Love I agree with you there
lol you are not wrong it is hard especially when you only get an hour once a week to learn from your teacher and dammit lol i got happy for nothing ): :P
look at @greenlegodude57 posts regarding quadratic formula
That its self taught or dont listen to me im always wrong
lol sorry about virtual school :)
Its fine (: but it helps me with concentrating more than a public school so guess it has its ups and downs
\[\large -x^2 + 5x + 2 = 0\] Plug this into the quadratic equation \[\large \frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a}\] a = -1 b = 5 c = 2 So we have \[\large \frac{-5 \pm \sqrt{(5)^2 - 4(-1)(2)}}{2(-1)}\] \[\large \frac{-5 \pm \sqrt{25- (-8)}}{-2}\] \[\large \frac{-5 \pm \sqrt{33}}{-2}\] and there...the fact that a negative divided by a negative...makes this all positive so \[\large \frac{5\pm \sqrt{33}}{2} \]
Thank you let me write this down as an example for later (:
i think i can possibly see where i might have understood wrong
And for 2) We have \[\large 4x^2 + 12x + 3 = 0\] we just added 12x to both sides of the equation to set it = to 0 again plug it into the same equation \[\large \frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a}\] becomes \[\large \frac{-12 \pm \sqrt{12^2 - 4(4)(3)}}{2(4)}\] \[\large \frac{-12 \pm \sqrt{144 - 48}}{8}\] \[\large \frac{-12 \pm \sqrt{96}}{8}\] this can be broken into 2 equations \[\large \frac{-12 + \sqrt{96}}{8}\] and \[\large \frac{-12 - \sqrt{96}}{8}\] We can just plug this into a calculator and get -2.72 and -0.28
get it
Thank you!!!!! and thanks everyone else i have to log off now ):
take back the medal you gave me and give it to him
@lostintime
she got off
she left
it says shes online
now shes offline xD
