Bobby is bringing his collection of dimes and quarters to the bank to deposit into his savings account. If d represents the number of dimes in Bobby’s collection, q represents the number of quarters, and the collection is worth $63.75, which of the following equations models the value of Bobby’s collection? A. 63.75 = d + q B. 63.75 = 25d + 10q C. 63.75 = 10d + 25q D. 63.75 = 0.10d + 0.25q
Your answer is: 63.75 = 0.10d + 0.25q
The answer is (D). We can eliminate the others one at a time: (A) says that the amount of money is just equal to the number of coins. This is clear not true. If I have 5 quarters or 5 dimes or whatever I don't have 5 dollars. It also doesn't check what kind of coin, it just adds them up. This is also not true , 5 quarters + 5 dimes doesn't equal 10 of anything.

(B) and (C) are close since they use two types of coins but (B) says that each quarter is worth $10 dollars and each dime is worth $25 and (C) says just the opposite: each dime is worth $10 and each quarter is worth $25. Both of these are clearly wrong. The only one left is (D)

“The captain of a rafting boat takes his crew down river for 6 hours, covering a total of 56 miles. When he realizes he left one of his passengers behind, he is forced to paddle back upriver for 8 miles. The trip back up took him 3 hours.” A student used the following system of equations to model the situation given above. Which of the statements is true about the system of equations the student used? b = the speed of the boat r = the speed of the current 8(b-r)=3 6(b+r)=56 A. The system of equations the student used is correct. B. The top equation in the system is incorrect. C. The bottom equation in the system is incorrect. D. Both equations in the system are incorrect.
Aye man please put only one answer at a time in this box k and thanks

On a distant planet, Ralph ran into a creature with multiple arms and multiple legs. Each arm has 6 fingers and each leg has 9 toes. On any one of these creatures, the total number of fingers and toes, D, can be described with the equation D = 6x + 9y. In this equation, what does the variable x represent? A. the number of arms the creature has B. the number of legs the creature has C. the number of fingers the creature has D. the number of toes the creature has
