Why has the Huang He (Yellow River) been called China's Sorrow?

Because when it often has randomly occuring, devastating floods. The Yellow River has great farmland along its banks making it a prime agricultural source (earning it the nickname of being the 'cradle of Chinese civilization'), but it's also subject to many floods that had literally washed away villages and towns along its banks throughout Chinese history.
