If the track athlete runs 200 meters, 18 times, then in total, they will have run 200*18 meters. That means that the athlete has run 3600 meters for their workout. A kilometer has 1000 meters in it, so if you want to find the number of meters in a kilometer, you multiply by a 1000. In this case, you want to go from meters to kilometers, so you want to do the opposite: divide by a 1000. 3600/1000=3.6 There are 3.6 kilometers in 3600 meters, so the track athlete ran 3.6 kilometers.
