Why is math essential?

hero (hero):

The fundamental basis of everything. Without it nothing would exist?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Care to expand your reason for it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I want to know some real math problems and equation that people use everyday, Job Etc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Take geometry too for example. Why is learning shapes important to?

hero (hero):

Basically it comes down to measurement...On the level of material reality, everything is supposedly quantifiable. You use math without even realizing it. If you think about it deeply, you'll realize that even everyday things require mathematics knowledge. The mathematics you learn in school is just so that you have a basic intuitive understanding of it. As far as the practicality of mathematics, the instruments and machinery people use have been created with mathematical precision. Think about something as simple as driving...all of the electronic sensing devices mph gauging, gas and oil level monitoring...Just basic stuff but the car itself was engineered with a great level of mathematical precision and the machinery used to create the components of the car as well.

hero (hero):

Of course, driving is just one example. How about football? Ever think about who made the football or the fact that every field is exactly 100 yds in length? The football has exact specifications for its length, width, height and weight before it can even be used on the professional level. Basketball as well. Again these are just basic things. How about the glass you use to pour milk into it? Created with mathematical precision. Not only that but mass-produced so that people all over the world can buy an exact replica of the one you used. The same precision goes into forks, spoons, and knives as well. What about your refrigerator or stove or any electric or electronic device in your home? Speaking of homes, how about your home itself? Once again, someone had to use mathematics and measurement to figure out how big the rooms will be, the length of the walls, the area of the floors and windows, etc. It's endless.... Now, think about this...We know how big the earth and sun is. We also know the distance from the Earth to the Sun. But think about the instruments that are used to observe microscopic organisms or stars that are light years away. Speaking of light years away, someone had to figure that out too. Mathematics rules and governs the universe.

hero (hero):

Mathematics is smaller than the smallest and bigger than the biggest. It's range is from infinity to infinity.

hero (hero):

It exists at every dimension of reality.

hero (hero):

Your heartbeat? Beats at a mathematical constant rate...

hero (hero):

Mathematics exists within you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wow! I have not thought of that way. Thank you for explaining me in details the fundamental of math and it can be applied to the real world. Every time I do Math, I always loses my senses to it

hero (hero):

Your internal Ph level...your internal temperature...the time it takes for the Earth to go around the sun...all constant rates... Mathematics can be thought of as even spiritual or eternal.

hero (hero):

Yes, well, maybe no one ever explained it to you that way, but now that you know, you can do your own investigation into the matter. Look for ways to understand why mathematics is so essential in the world and the critical nature of it.

hero (hero):

Mathematics saves lives. Doctors have figured out exact doses of medicine that is able to help treat patients of disease or bodily malfunctions. They figured out the range of electric stimulation necessary to revive individuals whose hearts might stop during surgery.

hero (hero):

Speaking of which, the instruments they use were created using mathematical engineering. Engineering is the practical application of mathematics in everyday life. When wondering about the practicality of mathematics, look to engineering.
