If human cells destined to become gametes failed to undergo meiosis in both parents, how many chromosomes would a resulting zygote contain?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If meiosis fails, would you consider the whole process of cell division to fail or would it revert to mitosis? And either way if gametes are not formed then you cannot get a zygote.

the resulting zygote would have 4n chromosomes....
