calculate the perimeter of the of the triangle shown..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. 24+8√3 B. 16+8√3 C. 16+16√3 D. 16+16√2

OpenStudy (hoblos):

the perimeter is the sum of the sides so we need to calculate all the sides of the triangle we know that it's a right triangle, we know an angle 30, and we know the hypotenuse we have to use the trigonometric formulas to find the other sides do you know these formulas ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know only that to find the perimeter you have to add them up, but this is different and i dont know which formula to use...

OpenStudy (hoblos):

in a right triangle |dw:1396981515623:dw| \[\sin x = \frac{ opposite }{ hyp }\] \[\cos x = \frac{ adjacent }{ hyp }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where would i place the 90º? in the oppostie or adjacent?

OpenStudy (hoblos):

|dw:1396982559871:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so both are set up the same... i got for sin is 0.098 and cos i got 0.99

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how do i fill in the formula if it doesnt show that much information?

OpenStudy (hoblos):

we have sin30° = opp / hyp thus , opp = hyp x sin30° = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 8... did i do that right?

OpenStudy (hoblos):

yeah you are right! |dw:1396983731891:dw| we need the adjacent now cos 30° = adj/hyp adj =?
