Write an equation in point-slope form for the line that has the given slope and that contains the given point Slope: -1/4, Point: (1,8)

OpenStudy (mathmale):

First, Joe, Why not look up the several forms of the equation of a straight line: 1) point-slope 2) slope-intercept 3) standard form Write these down for later reference. Once you have the point-slope form, substitute your m = (-1/4) into this equation; next, substitute the x- and y-coordinates of the given point (1,8). You could stop right there and then, or, if you wish, simplify the equation (which would result in the same equation in slope-intercept form).
