The Treaty of Versailles blamed WWI on Germany and required them to pay huge reparations. The Wiemar government was weak. It had been forced to sign the treaty and it's policies aggravated and already weak economy. Inflation rates soared making German money near worthless. The Nazi party offer hope and reassured the public that their nationalism was good (a balm to the injured pride of defeat in WWI) Further, the Nazis offered a scapegoat, or someone to blame, for German ills. If they just got rid of Jews and other weak parts of society, Germany could be restored to it's proper place in the world.
