Transforming Piecewise functions. Please help and explain Please.
f(x) = x/2 + 4. This is a straight line graph. Its slope is 1/2 and the y-intercept is +4. Therefore you can rule out all graphs that have curves instead of a straight line. g(x) = 3f(-x). Which means x is replaced by minus x in f(x) and then multiplied by 3. So g(x) = 3 * { -x/2 + 4 } = -3/2x + 12. This is also a straight line bur with a negative slope and a y-intercept of +12. Look for graphs of two straight lines. One with positive slope and y-intercept of +4 and another with a negative slope and y-intercept of +12.
By the way, this is not a piecewise function. A piecewise function will be defined in pieces. That is, the domain will be split into different sections and in each section a different function will be defined. Here, f(x) and g(x) are each one function throughout the domain.
Ohs I was just going by it because some of the later problems have piecewise problems. Also thank you for explaining it like that. Also for this one would it be C?
Yes, C.
Yay :3 thank you for explaining again
