What is the solution of the system of equations? y = –4x + 10 y = –2x – 6

OpenStudy (cloverracer):

Is there answer choices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(8, –22) (–2.67, 20.67) (–2, –2) (–22, 8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this ones

OpenStudy (cloverracer):

Okay, to solve this problem you will need to plug in each answer choice in the x and y variables until you find the answer choice that equals. For example, The first choice 8 would be plugged in the x variable and -22 would be plugged into the y variable.

ok thank you :)

OpenStudy (cloverracer):

Try the first one and see how you do :)

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

their both y = , so set them equal to each other and solve for x. Then sub that back into either of the equations and solve for y.

thank you, you were right CLoverRacer")

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

try this.. -4x + 10 = -2x - 6 now solve for x then sub that back into either one of the equations and find y. It is probably easier this way....rather then by going through each answer choice to see which one satisfies both equations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you texaschic101 :)

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

no problem....did you get the answer ? Better check the first answer choice again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, i did !.. thank you anyway

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

no problem :)
