OpenStudy (shadyykatie):

The height of a building is 1008 ft tall, and is represented on a model as 8 in tall. What is the ratio of the height of the model to the actual height of the building?

OpenStudy (shadyykatie):

@nikato Would you mind helping me?

OpenStudy (nikato):

Simplify 8 --- 1008

Miracrown (miracrown):

Well, ratios use : symbol instead But it's the same idea This would probably be a suitable answer 8:1008 But there's a small problem One is in inches, and one is in feet 8in:1008feet One is in inches, and one is in feet That is not really a suitable answer So we need to make either both inches or both feet What do you think?

OpenStudy (shadyykatie):

inches would sound like the best choice

Miracrown (miracrown):

Yep :) So what would that be?

OpenStudy (shadyykatie):

8in:1008In

Miracrown (miracrown):

That's not quite correct 1008 ft is not equal to 1008 inches

Miracrown (miracrown):

How many inches in 1 foot?

Miracrown (miracrown):

12 right so we multiply 12 x 1008= 12096! so its: 8in:12096in :)

Miracrown (miracrown):

and just for fun 1in:1212in :) I would put it down as the final answer But the one above it should be good too! Good luck :}
