a sum of money is divided among peter paul and jane in the ratio 13 : 12 : 7 calculate how paul gets if the amount peter gets more than jane is $ 78

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Suppose that x is the unit of money. Then Peter = 13x Paul = 12x Jane = 7x We know that the difference between Peter and Jane is 78, therefore 13x - 7x = 78 and so 6x = 78 which means that x=13. Finally Paul's amount is 12 x 13 = $156.
