This is a right-angled triangle, so the hypotenuse, call it 'h' is related to the lengths of the other two sides by the equation,\[12^{2} + 5^{2} = h ^{2}\] Therefore \[h = 13\] Then \[\sin x ^{0} = \frac{ 5 }{ 13 }\] and \[\cos y ^{0} = \frac{ 5 }{ 13 }\] They're the same (as they must be in every right triangle).
